Honoring the Fellows of (ISC)²

(ISC)² recently honored two additions to the distinguished group of Fellows of (ISC)² . This recognition is designated upon elite cybersecurity professionals who have made outstanding contributions over the course of their careers to the profession and industry at large.

John McCumber, director of cybersecurity advocacy in North America for (ISC)², is a past Fellow and presented the honor to two outstanding and deserving individuals this year at Security Congress in New Orleans during the Information Security Leadership Awards ceremony.

Ron Ross The first Fellow honored was Dr. Ronald Ross. His area of focus has been systems security engineering and risk management. He is currently leading the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) Implementation Project, which includes the development of security standards and guidelines for the federal government, contractors, and the U.S. critical infrastructure. He also leads the Joint Task Force, an interagency partnership with the Department of Defense, Office of the Director National Intelligence, U.S. Intelligence Community, and the Committee on National Security Systems, with responsibility for the development of the Unified Information Security Framework for the federal government and its contractors.

The second Fellow recognition was presented to William Hugh Murray, CISSP. Mr. Murray is in his sixth decade of service to the cybersecurity WHM Pic2l profession. He wrote the Data Security Controls and Procedures for IBM in 1976 and was a generous contributor to the Handbook of Information Security Management Series. Earning his CISSP designation in 1995, Mr. Murray has served on the (ISC)² Board of Directors in various committees for more than a decade. He has acted as chairman of the Ethics Committee, helping to articulate the Code of Ethics, and also led the Governance Committee. Mr. Murray is a past Tipton Award winner and in 2016 was inducted into the National Cybersecurity Hall of Fame.
