#ISC2Congress 2019: Sessions to Catch Up On
We recently announced that this year’s (ISC)² Security Congress will take place entirely virtually . The decision was made as COVID-19 cases continue to surge around the globe in the interest of safety of attendees, speakers, sponsors and staff. This year’s event will include three days of sessions from top security experts November 16-18. We’ll announce the sessions – including the timing of the programming – soon, but in the meantime, many sessions from the 2019 event are available online completely free. Get a taste of what Security Congress 2020 will have to offer, while getting ahead on your CPEs by checking out some of last year’s favorite sessions.
Threat Hunting for M&A Cyber Due Diligence
Jacob Williams of Rendition Infosec presented on threat hunting during the process of mergers and acquisitions at last year’s conference. M&A due diligence was a hot topic in 2019 (we released our own report on the subject) and as the economic impacts of COVID-19 continue to shake out, there is no doubt that many businesses will be changing ownership over the coming year.
Addressing the Benefits & Challenges of Implementing the MITRE ATT&CK Framework
Identifying malicious behaviors can be difficult for security teams. In this session, IBM’s Douglas Wagner discusses the importance, value and some of the challenges implementing the MITRE ATT&CK framework for detection processes. He also gets into the “how” and “why” of implementing a “Model of Continuous Improvement” for threat detection within organizations.
Follow the Risk with Adaptive Cybersecurity Assessments
Cybersecurity assessments are a vital part of the process for practitioners. Gideon T. Rasmussen, CISSP, provides practical advice on the process, including scoping, work papers, scheduling, on-site assessment, report preparation and presentation. He leverages the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, as well as tips and examples to add controls based on business processes, insider threat, privacy and fraud.
These three sessions will give you an idea of the kinds of topical content you can expect from our 2020 event. The 2019 sessions are available completely free and on-demand. Each session will earn you 1 CPE, with no submission process necessary if you’ve registered with BrightTALK using your (ISC)² member ID number!
