As we look forward to (ISC)2 Security Congress 2020 on November 16-18, we are continuing to highlight a few of last year’s sessions to review so you know what to expect for the upcoming digital conference. You can also earn CPEs for viewing these sessions if you weren’t able to attend last year’s conference.
Preparing for Cyber War: Learnings from Responding to Disruptive Breaches
Charles Carmakal and Jermey Koppen, both from Mandiant, share real world case studies of threat actors and their motivations of money, fame and power. They share the importance of investigating attacks by both internal and external extortionists and how to properly deal with demands from aggressive attackers. A significant rise of aggressive attacks within the last two years shows the importance of preparation and having a plan to respond to aggressive threats and prevent destruction.
Privacy Laws, Cyber Cases and the Changing Landscape
Does your company do business globally? Privacy regulations and enforcement varies, and you need to make sure that you and your company are in compliance across the world. Adriana Sanford, JD, explains global court cases and how to adapt your policies to comply with the changing security landscape. There are unique risks and key challenges with the Global Data Privacy Regulations (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as well as privacy laws in specific countries that have an impact on businesses with financial and criminal repercussions.
Javvad Malik, CISSP, of KnowBe4, takes a candid approach to discussing the reality of taking security seriously as an organization and not just words to placate executives. He looks at large global corporations’ security controls and compares them to best practices. Javvad encourages audience members to use research to determine their actual threats vs. their perceived threats and how to prioritize and budget to protect people, processes and technology.
