#ISC2Congress: Empower Your Weekend with Training

Aug 11, 2022

PreConf-Training Build confidence for exam day or expand your knowledge by attending Official (ISC)² Pre-Conference Training the weekend ahead of (ISC)² Security Congress . Participate by arriving in Las Vegas a couple of days early or maximize your time by joining in online on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9.

Learn from (ISC)² Authorized Instructors and gain a holistic understanding of the essential topics in the course of your choice. Your instructor – who holds the certification they are teaching – provides expert knowledge with experience from practice. You will engage in thought-provoking discussions within your class and expand your education by applying certification fundamentals to real-world applications. Full day on-site sessions include complimentary breakfast, lunch and break snacks.

This year, we are also introducing a new two-day CISO training course. Participants will learn through an agenda of interactive discussions and activities about efficiency in the world of risk and information security management. This course will provide you with the tools you need to be an effective CISO. “I’m really excited to bring an all-new CISO training to the pre-Congress sessions this year. It will be amazing to have an in-person group where we can interact without virtual distractions. We’ll be concentrating on closing the gap between information security leaders and the executive team by building on past successes and visions of the future, ensuring security supports the organization’s goals and brings real value through open communication,” (ISC)² Education CPE Evaluator Lead Chad Kliewer, CISSP, CCSP.

As a deeper dive into this once-a-year cybersecurity training opportunity, we spoke with our education experts to answer your commonly asked questions.

What are the differences between the in-person and virtual training options?

The in-person courses will be held at Caesars Palace on site in Las Vegas and are ideal for hands-on learners, plus they provide the unique ability to interact with an (ISC)² Authorized Instructor and collaborate with other industry professionals in your class. Virtual training has many of the same benefits, such as being led by (ISC)² Authorized Instructors but allows you to participate from the convenience of your home office, saving you travel time and expenses.

Both in-person and virtual attendees have the option of three certification courses: CCSP, CAP or CSSLP. Whether you’re already certified with CCSP, CAP or CSSLP – or you’re wanting to pursue one of these certifications – this two-day course is for you. We will review the certification domain to deepen your knowledge to enhance your existing credential or prepare you for exam day. Participants can earn 16 CPE credits for the two-day intensive course. Those joining us in person will have the additional options of a single day Certified in Cybersecurity course covering the five domains of the entry-level exam or the two-day CISO course.

Who are these training courses for?

  • CISO – This session is for both current and aspiring CISOs who are often expected to be part technician, part manager, part leader and part visionary. In addition to providing insight on how to communicate on a business level with the board and stakeholders, we’ll have interactive discussions and activities so that you can learn from both experienced professionals and industry newcomers.
  • Certified in Cybersecurity (Entry Level Certification) – If you are pursuing a career in cybersecurity – whether as a recent college graduate or a career changer – this course provides the foundation of cybersecurity essentials.
  • CISSP – This is ideal for experienced security practitioners, managers and executives interested in proving their knowledge across a wide array of security practices and principles.
  • CCSP – If your work is heavily cloud-focused, this course is ideal and provides best practices for cloud security architecture, design, operations and service orchestration.
  • CSSLP – For those working in software development, or for security professionals responsible for applying best practices to each phase of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from software design and implementation to testing and deployment, the CSSLP course is for you.
  • CAP – Ideal for practitioners working in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) roles and needing to understand, apply and/or implement a risk management program.
