• Brian Alberti, Corporate Public Relations Manager, (ISC)2 Millions of workers around the world have been asked to work from their homes for an unspecified period of time until the COVID-19 outbreak has been contained by social distancing. For many people, this may be the first time in their work lives that they have worked out of their home for more than a day or two, and the transition can be a challenging one, especially with no definitive timeline on your return to your office building. Nearly two years ago I made the switch to a remote work position after nearly 20 years of going into an office environment every day. I had a choice in the matter, but many workers

  • If you hold the CISSP certification, you may have asked yourself “What’s next for me?” as far as your certification journey is concerned. For many professionals, the next step is one of the CISSP concentrations: architecture, engineering or management. This year, the CISSP-ISSAP (Information Systems Security Architecture Professional) exam will be updated. She asked attendees of Tuesday’s keynote speech at (ISC)2 Security Congress 2019 to actually press their phones’ power button. “I’m going to guess a lot of people are feeling uncomfortable. A lot of you faked it. A lot of you are probably hating me right now,” said Price, a journalist and author of the book, “How to Break Up with Your Phone.” For the next hour, Price discussed the reasons we are so tethered to our phones, what it’s doing to us, and how we can take back control. She addressed the dangers of our constant attachment to

  • by Dr. Chris Veltsos, CISSP, member of (ISC)² Advisory Council of North America  We’ve all been there, staring at the blank page or the blank screen, frustrated that the words aren’t flowing anymore, if they ever were. For the fortunate, this feeling can be fleeting, quickly replaced by a geyser of ideas and sentences that flow onto the page. For the rest of us, the momentary blockage can take a more serious turn, resulting in days or weeks of “challenged writing” in which you have no choice but to plow through the slow drip-drip of words and ideas. In extreme cases, one might even begin to think that they are experiencing writer’s block, followed by the realization that the thud
