Feb 08, 2022

Exam-Home-Laptop If you are a CISSP exam candidate interested in taking the exam online, please consider participating in our next online proctor pilot program. Our exams team began working with Pearson VUE to explore online testing solutions, and we were able to pilot online exams for the first time last year. Read more about the February 2021 online proctored exams results . (ISC)² announced this week that the next online CISSP proctor pilot test will open for registration on February 14. Seats for the online exams will be limited and will only include the CISSP CAT exam for candidates in the U.S., U.K. and Singapore.

What We Changed

With exam integrity our primary objective, we have established new identity validation and security processes for this next round of online exams. This is the first online exam of its kind administered by Pearson VUE due to the wide array of stringent security controls and processes we have implemented. For example, test-takers must ensure their IP address is in the same geographic location at registration as it is at the time of their examination. There are many additional security steps that we are not disclosing to protect the integrity of the exam content. Additionally, for this pilot test, we have expanded the geographic availability to candidates physically located inside the United States (all 50 states and the District of Columbia), United Kingdom and Singapore.

What Test-Takers Need to Know

Online CISSP exams will be administered February 28-March 7, 2022. Registration will open February 14 for a limited number of available seats. The CISSP exam will only be available in English and in the CAT (Computerized Adaptive Testing) format , which has a 3-hour time limit and contains between 100-150 multiple choice items.

If you sit for the online CISSP exam, you will not receive results immediately at the conclusion of your exam. All exam results will be held until after a complete statistical and psychometric assessment, which can take 8-10 weeks. When you do receive your results via email, it will only include a pass/fail result. Those who do not pass will not receive detailed information about competency levels by domain (as you do with an in-person exam).

What Members Need to Know

Security professionals know: You can never eliminate risk, but you can mitigate it. The security and integrity of our examinations are of the utmost importance to (ISC)². If at any point during the pilot test, we feel the program has been compromised, we will close the pilot and cancel any remaining online exams. We have an obligation to all current (ISC)² members who passed the in-person exam to ensure that online exam results have the same validity and accuracy as their certification exam.

The results of this pilot test are extremely important and will dictate any potential future online proctoring as part of a regular (ISC)² offering. If you have questions about participating, please reach out to examadministration@isc2.org or read our updated Online Exams FAQ page.
