Security Headlines: #InfoSec17 Edition

Jun 09, 2017

Infosecurity Europe took over London this week with “everyone and everything you need to know about information security.” Here are the headlines from the event that caught our eye this week:

  • Are you ready for GDPR? With just under a year to go until implementation, SC Magazine UK asked the question “Can you purchase your way to GDPR compliance?” Short answer: No. No you can’t.
  • No surprise here. In a room full of security pros, the U.K. government’s approach to encryption was a point of discussion following the recent terror attacks in the country. As expected, there were strong opinions and differing perspectives on this contentious issue encroaching on security and privacy.
  • Was WannaCry really the work of nation-state actors? Malwarebytes’ CEO spoke to InfoSecurity about why he believes this wasn’t exactly the work of world-class super villains.
  • As if printer ink wasn’t expensive enough. With the rise of memory-based printer hacks – yes, you read that right – security has become a major consideration when purchasing your next office printer.
  • Ok – it’s been a minute, are you ready for more GDPR now? Our own Adrian Davis spoke about the potential opportunity for cyber pros to add more value to their organizations by ensuring they ready for this regulation.
  • You can catch each day’s wrap up and everything in between from #InfoSec17 themselves on their blog .
